India have now lost five consecutive completed T20 Internationals, raising questions over the team’s new leadership.
England secured their first-ever T20 International series victory over India after cruising to a dominant win in the fourth match in Bristol.
Chasing a target of 159, the hosts reached 159/1 in just 13.5 overs to take an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match series.
Captain Harry Brook remained unbeaten on 79 off 35 balls, while Phil Salt smashed 59 off 42 deliveries. The pair shared an unbeaten 144-run partnership for the second wicket to seal a comprehensive victory.
Earlier, India posted 158/7 after being asked to bat first. Captain Shreyas Iyer played a fighting unbeaten knock of 80 from 49 balls, but received little support from the rest of the batting lineup. Shivam Dube was the only other notable contributor with 22 runs.
For England, Jofra Archer and Josh Tongue claimed two wickets each, while Will Jacks and Adil Rashid picked up one wicket apiece.
The defeat marks India’s fifth consecutive loss in completed T20 Internationals, intensifying scrutiny over the team’s new leadership. Shreyas Iyer, who was appointed captain after the T20 World Cup in place of Suryakumar Yadav, is now facing increasing pressure.
It is worth noting that the opening match of the series was washed out due to rain, while the fifth and final match will be played on Saturday in Southampton.
