A couple in the U.S. state of Michigan struck an extraordinary stroke of luck after winning a lottery prize with a ticket they bought from their own store. The lottery-selling couple won $100,000.
77-year-old Patricia Lange and her husband, Pat, own Pat and Gary’s Party Store. According to the couple, it had become a daily routine for them to purchase a Club Keno lottery ticket from their own shop.
Patricia told Michigan Lottery officials that her husband bought the ticket for the May 25 drawing. When the results were announced, all nine numbers on their ticket matched the winning combination, earning them the $100,000 prize.
Patricia said she could hardly believe the news when her husband woke her up to tell her they had won.
“He never wakes me up while I’m sleeping, so I immediately knew something extraordinary had happened,” she said.
The lucky couple said they plan to use the prize money to pay their bills and purchase new inventory for their store ahead of the busy summer season.
