A pet parakeet from South Carolina, USA, has earned a place in the Guinness World Records after reaching an extraordinary age.
The bird, named Spodles, has been officially recognized as the world’s oldest living parakeet at 32 years and 86 days old. This is especially remarkable because pet parakeets kept in captivity typically live between 15 and 20 years.
Its owner, Amanda Beth, said she received Spodles as a gift from her mother in 1997, when the bird was about three years old.
Laughing, Amanda said she often jokes that Spodles “just refuses to die,” so she keeps feeding and caring for him.
Although Spodles is not as talkative as he once was, Amanda says he still starts every morning by saying “Pretty Bird,” a charming habit that continues to reflect his lovable personality.
