U.S. President Donald Trump has unveiled a new design for a special commemorative U.S. passport as part of celebrations marking America’s 250th anniversary. The design prominently features a portrait of President Trump.
Sharing an image of the new passport on his social media platform, Truth Social, President Trump wrote: “America’s new passport. It says: Welcome, but behave yourself!”
According to the released design, one of the passport pages shows President Trump seated at the famous Resolute Desk in the White House, with the text of the historic U.S. Declaration of Independence displayed in the background. The lower section of the page also includes Trump’s signature. The facing page features renowned artist John Trumbull’s iconic painting, The Declaration of Independence.
Reports indicate that the portrait of President Trump used in the passport closely resembles his official portrait displayed at the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C.
The newly revealed design differs from an earlier concept released by the U.S. Department of State earlier this year, which featured a different image of the president.
The White House later shared the same passport design on its official X account, captioning it: “A new U.S. passport commemorating America’s 250th anniversary.”
However, when asked whether this is the final and official design of the commemorative passport, the White House referred all inquiries to the U.S. Department of State.
Meanwhile, CNN has also contacted the State Department for clarification on the matter, but no official response had been issued at the time of publication.
