In a deeply distressing incident from Quetta, Balochistan (Pakistan), a young female doctor, Dr. Maanoor Nasser, who became the victim of a brutal acid attack, is now set to receive advanced medical treatment in the United States.
Following the attack at the surgical unit of Sandeman Hospital in Quetta, Dr. Maanoor sustained severe injuries that required urgent and specialized care. She was immediately shifted to a private hospital in Karachi, where she is currently undergoing medical evaluation and initial treatment under strict observation.
Medical authorities have recommended further advanced care abroad due to the complexity of her injuries. In response, the government of Pakistan has decided to send Dr. Maanoor to the United States for better treatment facilities. Officials are currently completing all necessary legal and administrative procedures to facilitate her transfer.
Doctors have confirmed that she will remain under treatment in Karachi for approximately one more week before being medically cleared for travel.
The tragic incident had earlier shocked the medical community when an attacker threw acid on Dr. Maanoor during her duty at Sandeman Hospital. In an attempt to save her, ward boy Abdul Razzaq Tareen was also severely burned. The attacker was later reportedly killed in a police encounter following the incident.
The case has raised serious concerns about the safety of healthcare professionals in the region, while many continue to pray for Dr. Maanoor’s full recovery as she prepares for life-saving treatment abroad.
