Posted on June 5, 2026

Beijing: At the invitation of Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea and Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of North Korea, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and President of China, will pay an official visit to North Korea from June 8 to 9.

On Friday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning stated during a regular press briefing that this will be President Xi Jinping’s first official visit to North Korea in seven years.

During the visit, top leaders of both parties and countries will hold discussions on bilateral relations and issues of mutual interest.

In recent years, under the strategic guidance of General Secretary Xi Jinping and General Secretary Kim Jong Un, traditional friendly and cooperative relations between China and North Korea have continued to develop in a healthy and stable manner, bringing tangible benefits to both countries and their peoples.

This year marks the 65th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance between China and North Korea.

Both sides are expected to use this visit to further advance the development of China–North Korea relations in line with changing circumstances, promote the well-being of their peoples, and contribute more to regional and global peace, stability, development, and prosperity.
