Google has expanded its artificial intelligence technology by introducing a new AI-powered search feature for YouTube called “Ask YouTube.”
The new feature allows users to type complex questions on any topic and receive not only relevant video recommendations but also text summaries and additional information. Users can also ask follow-up questions, creating an interactive experience similar to chatting with an AI assistant.
One of the feature’s most significant advantages is its ability to take users directly to the specific part of a video containing the information they need, rather than requiring them to watch the entire video. For example, if someone is watching a travel vlog and wants details about a particular destination or travel tip, the AI can instantly guide them to the relevant section.
Google CEO Sundar Pichai announced the feature during the company’s annual developer conference, stating that “Ask YouTube” will make finding information easier and more efficient. Google continues to integrate AI across its products and services to provide users with smarter and more advanced digital experiences.
Currently, the feature is available to YouTube Premium subscribers in the United States who are 18 years of age or older. However, Google has indicated that it plans to expand availability to additional countries in the near future.
According to the company, users will need to enable the feature through their account settings. Once activated, a new “Ask YouTube” button will appear in the search bar. Users will be presented with suggested questions and will also have the option to enter their own queries.
