Hunter Biden, the son of former U.S. President Joe Biden, has revealed that his father’s condition has deteriorated further as he battles prostate cancer.
In an interview with the British broadcaster BBC, Hunter Biden said, “The cancer has spread. It has reached his bones and then spread to other parts of his body. It is extremely painful and is significantly worsening his condition.”
Hunter said that his father is experiencing severe pain because of the cancer and that it is heartbreaking to see him suffering.
At 83, Joe Biden is the oldest person to have served as President of the United States. During his four-year tenure in the White House, his advancing age was a constant source of concern.
Biden and his advisers also faced intense criticism over allegations that they had concealed the severity of his health problems, particularly after he withdrew from the presidential race following a disastrous election debate with current President Donald Trump.
The former president announced that he had been diagnosed with cancer in May last year, less than four months after leaving the White House.
Hunter Biden said the diagnosis had a profound impact on the family. “It is really heartbreaking to watch all of this,” he said. “At this point, all I can say about my father’s health is that I wish he complained more, because he is not doing well.”
However, Hunter said his father remains active in public life and continues to speak about issues that are important to him.
“He is still playing his role. He has a deep belief in this country,” Hunter said.
Joe Biden’s memoir, Promise Me, America, is expected to be published after the midterm elections.
