France star Kylian Mbappé added another historic achievement to his remarkable career by scoring in the 2026 FIFA World Cup quarter-final against Morocco.
Mbappé found the net in the 60th minute, becoming the fastest player in World Cup history to reach 20 goals.
The 27-year-old reached the milestone in just 20 World Cup matches, surpassing Lionel Messi, who needed 30 matches to score his first 20 World Cup goals.
Mbappé achieved the feat across three World Cup editions—2018, 2022, and 2026.
At 27 years and 201 days old, he is also the youngest player ever to score 20 World Cup goals. He netted four goals in 2018, eight in 2022, and eight so far in the ongoing tournament.
With this latest strike, Mbappé also became the highest-scoring player in FIFA World Cup knockout-stage history, taking his knockout tally to 12 goals.
In addition, he became the first French player to be directly involved in 100 international goals, with 64 goals and 36 assists for France.
With eight goals and three assists in the current World Cup, Mbappé is the first footballer since 1966 to register more than 10 goal contributions in two different World Cup editions.
His 14 goal contributions in World Cup knockout matches have also drawn him level with Lionel Messi, the joint-highest total recorded by any player in the last 60 years.
