WASHINGTON: U.S. President Donald Trump has dismissed a CNN report regarding a proposed agreement with Iran, insisting that the deal contains strong and detailed provisions addressing Tehran’s nuclear program.
In a statement posted on his social media platform, Trump accused CNN of spreading misinformation by suggesting that the proposed agreement does not clearly address nuclear issues. He said the report was inaccurate and misleading.
According to Trump, the agreement explicitly states that Iran will never be allowed to obtain a nuclear weapon under any circumstances. He emphasized that nuclear-related provisions form the core of the proposed deal.
The U.S. president added that the agreement is comprehensive and detailed, covering various aspects of Iran’s nuclear activities, enriched uranium, and other sensitive issues. He said a significant portion of the document is dedicated to these matters.
Trump also criticized CNN, claiming the network continues to engage in misleading reporting. He questioned whether the broadcaster would be able to restore its credibility under its new management.
Meanwhile, diplomatic contacts between Washington and Tehran remain ongoing. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi told Iranian state media that messages and negotiations with the United States are continuing, but it would be inappropriate to speculate about the outcome before talks are concluded.
Araghchi said it is too early to make any final judgment about a potential agreement and stressed that all parties should wait until the negotiation process is completed.
In recent weeks, reports have emerged regarding possible understandings between the United States and Iran, including discussions related to extending ceasefire arrangements and restoring stability in the Strait of Hormuz. However, neither country has officially announced a final agreement.
