The 57-year-old resident of Oakland County, who chose to remain anonymous, was buying a Fantasy 5 ticket online for the March 13 drawing when she accidentally selected the number 39 instead of her intended choice, 47. Despite noticing the error, she decided not to change it, recalling her mother’s words: “There are no accidents—everything happens for a reason.”
That unexpected decision proved to be fortunate. The winning numbers for the draw were 08, 10, 11, 22, and 39—exactly matching her ticket and securing her the jackpot.
The woman said she first realized something unusual when she received an email from the Lottery, which was different from the typical notifications she received for small wins. Upon logging into her account and seeing the prize amount, she was overwhelmed.
“I paced around my house for hours trying to process it,” she said. “I play the Lottery just for fun and entertainment, and I never expected to win something this big. My first reaction was shock and disbelief.”
